Open Analytics Cyber Summit Recap

IKANOW hosted another hugely successful Open Analytics Summit, this time with a focus on cyber security. This was our 5th summit in our 3rd city.

The day started off with our very own Chris Morgan, talking about the importance of cyber security in both the public and private sectors and how it’s becoming more and more of a boardroom topic of discussion.

We then kicked off the talks with an outstanding panel discussion moderated by Hank Brown with CAI with panelists from Cyber Command, Air Force, Secret Service, DHS, and JHU APL. This was a very informative and thought provoking discussion with outstanding participation from the audience.

Shortly thereafter, Supervisory Special Agent Daniel Gray of the FBI gave a passionate and informative talk about what and how the FBI deals with cyber attacks.

Like most events, attendees turned to Twitter.

They also provided their recommendations for future talks (we agree this would be a good one!!).

The first half of the day was focused on the public sector with the second half on the private sector.

After lunch, Chris Nims with AOL gave a talk, “MOLOCH: Search for full packet capture”, and provided us with some details of his children’s Internet activity at his house. This was a gutsy yet extremely interesting talk and demonstration.

All of the presenters and panelists did a fantastic job and we can’t thank them enough. We’ve received extremely positive feedback about this event and love seeing comments online like these…

Many of you asked about the presentations. We aren’t able to share all of them but the ones we have permission to share are below. We’d like to thank our sponsors for making this event happen - ForeScout, IKANOW, AOL, CAI, BigDataStartups, and CMSWire. We’d also like to thank everyone that made it to the event and look forward to seeing you at future Open Analytics events!
